The Jade Emperor feared that the secret of the Book of Heaven would be leaked, and ordered Yuan Gong to continue stationed at Yunmeng Mountain. He also stipulated that he must report to heaven every year during the Dragon Boat Festival. In Yunmeng Mountain, besides Yuan Gong, there is also a family of three foxes living here. The old fox lives here with a pair of young foxes.
One day, a group of swans flew across the sky, and one of them accidentally left behind a giant egg, which was picked up by Yuan Gong and placed in the alchemy furnace. On the occasion of the Dragon Boat Festival, Yuan Gongtian reported that three foxes took the opportunity to sneak into the cave. The old fox not only stole three elixirs from the furnace, but also took away the swan egg. On the way out, the little fox was starving and wanted to eat swan eggs, but found them hard as stones. In a fit of anger, he threw them into the stream. Unexpectedly, a baby cried in the stream where the egg fell. The old fox was frightened and buried the egg deep under the bridge, suppressing it with a giant rock.
The next day, an old woman crossed the bridge and was shocked to see a giant rock move. The egg broke through the rock and a crying baby jumped out. The old woman dotes on her and feeds her with bread, while the baby has an astonishing appetite and grows rapidly after eating. The old woman gave her the name “Egg Boy” and raised her up. On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, he brought his brush and ink to Yunmeng Mountain and copied down the stone wall’s heavenly book word for word. However, he struggled to recognize the characters in the heavenly book and cried anxiously. Yuan Gong arrived at the right time, turning the copied text into physical books and encouraging the egg students to study the spells in the books diligently, benefiting the people.
Egg students follow the teachings and learn the art of flying, traveling around the world. One day, I arrived at a place ravaged by a locust plague and witnessed the old fox family deceiving others. I became angry and exposed their deception. Subsequently, Egg Sheng applied what he had learned from the Book of Heaven and summoned a group of birds to exterminate locusts. Seeing this, the old fox became greedy and vowed to seize the Book of Heaven. In the quiet of the night, the old fox sneaked into Egg’s residence and stole books, injuring people. He fled into the county town with his book, but was captured due to his past misdeeds. The old fox saved the sick father of the county official with the help of heavenly book medicine, but was also caught up in the vortex of corruption as a result. The county official was insatiable and forced the old fox to transform into a golden and silver mountain. Egg Boy tracked down to this point and saw the suffering of the people. He used the technique of gathering treasure pots to return the stolen property, but mistakenly included the father of the county official, which led to a series of jokes.
In the end, Egg Boy cleverly took the Heavenly Book, and the county official reluctantly handed over the old fox. Yuan Gong appeared at the right time, retrieved the heavenly book, and now revealed his true form in the demon mirror. Amidst the collapse of the mountains and the splitting of the earth, the three foxes were buried in Yunmeng. Yuan Gong’s last words came from the sky, encouraging the egg students to continue doing good deeds. With tears in his eyes, Egg Sheng aspired to inherit Yuan Gong’s last wish, and with the power of the Book of Heaven, he would spread benevolence and benefit all the people.
