After three years and six months of pregnancy, the wife of General Li Jing of Chentangguan gave birth to a meatball. Suddenly, the light shone brightly and a boy jumped out from it. Li Jing was gloomy, but a Taoist named Taiyi Zhenren came to congratulate him. He named his child Nezha and took him as his disciple, presenting him with two treasures on the spot: the Qiankun Circle and the Hun Tian Ling. Nezha was seven years old, with drought and earth splitting apart. The Dragon King of the East China Sea could not drop water, and even ordered Ye to go to the seaside to forcibly seize young boys and girls. At this moment, Nezha acted bravely and used the Qiankun Circle to kill Ye Cha, as well as killing Ao Bing, the son of the Dragon King who came to reinforce. The Dragon King went to the Heavenly Palace to complain, but on the way, he was beaten to death by Nezha. So, the Dragon King of the East Sea invited three brothers to discuss revenge together.
The next day, the Four Seas Dragon King led the sailors and water generals to stir up trouble, flooding Chentang Pass and demanding that Li Jing hand over Nezha before they were willing to withdraw their troops. Nezha wanted to counterattack but was stopped by Li Jing, who took away Nezha’s two treasures. Nezha stood up for the safety of the entire city and committed suicide in grief and anger. Afterwards, Taiyi Zhenren borrowed lotus flowers and fresh lotus roots as his body to resurrect Nezha. After his resurrection, Nezha wielded a pointed spear and stepped on a wind and fire wheel, causing chaos in the Dragon Palace, defeating the Dragon King, and eliminating evil for the people.
And Nezha borrowed lotus flowers to support his life because Nezha originated from the creation of Chinese literati. China has loved lotus flowers since ancient times, and lotus flowers are naturally one of the symbols of the most precious, exquisite, divine, and holy things revered by Taoism. The sacred lotus symbolizes the gods of Taoism and holds a supreme position in the hearts of the vast number of believers. Being associated with the lotus is a blessing they have been striving for. Since Nezha has a deeper Taoist bloodline, and since the lotus flower is originally a sacred object in the Taoist world, according to folklore, Nezha’s use of the lotus flower means completely breaking away from the mundane, moving towards the sacred, and towards eternal life. With the lotus flower, Nezha’s transformation from secular to divine, from mortal to heavenly was successfully completed.
