In the mythological era after Pangu created the world and N ü wa created humans, there has been a long-standing grudge between the water god Gonggong and the fire god Zhurong, and the conflict between the two has become increasingly intense. Finally, the Gonggong could no longer bear it and led his army of aquatic creatures – shrimp soldiers and crab generals – to challenge the Fire God Zhurong. Zhu Rong, unwilling to be outdone, rode the fiery dragon surrounded by raging flames to confront the Communist Party.
In the battle, Gonggong dispatched his capable assistant Xiang Liu and Floating, mobilizing the water of the Three Rivers and Five Seas to pour towards Zhu Rong’s side. In an instant, the sky was filled with murky waves, with black clouds rolling and white clouds engulfed by the giant waves. Even Zhu Rong’s divine fire was temporarily extinguished by this sudden flood. However, when the flood receded, the divine fire quickly reignited, and Zhu Rong invited the Wind God to help. The wind borrowed the fire, and the fire assisted the wind’s power. The flames rushed even more fiercely towards the side of the Communist Party. Gonggong attempted to resist the fire with water, but the flood could not last long and the flames remained fierce. Gonggong and his aquatic warriors were forced to retreat step by step by the flames, facing a difficult situation.
Zhurong took advantage of the victory and chased towards the Water Palace. The Gonggong had no choice but to lead the remaining troops to reluctantly fight. In the end, in this battle between light and darkness, water and fire, Fire God Zhurong achieved a brilliant victory. Floating unfortunately died due to a mixture of shame and anger, while Xiangliu fled in panic. Gonggong himself was also physically and mentally exhausted, fleeing to the horizon in embarrassment.
When fleeing to Mount Buzhou, the Gonggong looked back at the approaching pursuers and felt a mixture of shame and anger. In a fit of anger, he slammed his head into the mountainside of Mount Buzhou, only to hear a loud “bang” as the mountain was shattered. This collision not only shook the world, but also triggered an unprecedented disaster. Originally, Mount Buzhou was a giant pillar that supported heaven and earth. When the pillar broke, half of the sky collapsed with a loud bang, revealing a huge hole. The water of the Milky Way poured down, causing floods to ravage and plunging the world into a vast ocean.
This is the origin of the legend of “water and fire are incompatible”, and it is also the reason why Empress N ü wa worked tirelessly to collect five colored stones to repair the sky and save the lives of the people. As the cracks in the sky were filled with colorful stones, the flood gradually receded, and the earth finally regained its former tranquility and harmony.
