Legend has it that when humans were reproducing, there was a sudden conflict between the Water God Gonggong and the Fire God Zhurong. They fought from the sky to the ground, causing riots everywhere. In the end, Zhu Rong emerged victorious, but in the anger of the dissatisfied Gonggong, he unexpectedly bumped his head into Mount Buzhou. The collapse of Mount Buzhou caused the pillar that supported heaven and earth to break, and half of the sky collapsed with a loud bang, forming a huge hole. The land also split into deep ravines, and fires surged in the mountains and forests. Floods gushed out from the ground, and dragons, snakes, and beasts followed suit, devouring humans. Humanity is facing an impending disaster.
N ü wa felt immense pain in her heart when she saw humanity suffering such a huge disaster, so she decided to repair the heavens and end this calamity. She chose stones of various colors and melted them into a paste with fire to fill the gaps in the sky. Subsequently, she chopped off the four legs of a large turtle as a pillar to support half of the collapsed sky.
N ü wa captured and killed the black dragon that was harming the people, stopping the rampage of dragons and snakes. Finally, in order to prevent the flood from continuing, N ü wa collected a large number of reeds, burned them to ashes, filled them up, and spread them on the spreading floodwaters. Through the hard work of N ü wa, the sky was finally restored, the land was filled in, the water sources stopped flooding, the dragons, snakes, and beasts disappeared one after another, and the people regained a peaceful and happy life. However, this massive disaster still left traces. Since then, the sky has tilted slightly towards the northwest, so the sun, moon, and stars naturally tilt towards the west. Due to the southeast tilt of the earth, all rivers converge in that direction.
