Legend has it that in the distant northwest of our country, there is a paradise called the Kingdom of Huaxu. This country is so far away that it is difficult to reach it by walking, boat, or car. This country has no government, no leader, and most people have no desires or hobbies, so the people here live a happy and fulfilling life, with a remarkably long lifespan. They fell into the water without drowning, into the fire without melting, and in the sky like walking on flat ground. The people here can be said to be immortals living on the earth.
In this land of paradise, there is a girl named Hua Xuhua. Once, she went to play in a very beautiful swamp called Leize in the east and accidentally saw a huge footprint on the edge of the swamp. She thought it was strange and fun, and wanted to compare the size of the footprint with her own feet. So she stepped on this footprint. It didn’t matter if she stepped on it, she immediately had a strange feeling. Later, she became pregnant and gave birth to a boy named Fuxi.
The main god of Leize is Thunder God, and it is he who left footprints here, so people say that Fuxi is the son of Thunder God. Fuxi indeed looks somewhat like a thunder god, with a human face and snake body. He is said to be the son of Thunder God, because he can freely ascend to the sky along a ladder.
Later, Fuxi became the “God” of the East, assisted by a wooden god named Ju Mang holding a ruler in his hand, and jointly managed spring with Fuxi.
Fuxi made great contributions to people. He once drew the Eight Trigrams, which included various situations of all things in heaven and earth, so people at that time used it to record various things that happened in their lives. He saw people carrying wooden sticks into rivers to fish, so he taught them the technique of weaving fishing nets, enabling them to catch many fish. His subordinate Ju Mang was inspired by his fishing net and wove a bird net following his method, teaching people how to catch birds. This provides people with good and applicable tools to improve their living conditions.
The greatest contribution that Fuxi made to people is probably that he brought the spark of fire to them. Before this, people ate only raw and cold food. When eating meat, the fishy smell of raw meat often causes people to have stomach problems and bad stomachs; Eating raw wild vegetables and fruits can cause indigestion in people. Fuxi saw all of this and felt sorry for people’s pain.
Once, he came to the Tianshan Mountains and happened to encounter a heavy thunderstorm. In an instant, thunder and lightning struck, which was very terrifying. Suddenly, a raging fire broke out in the mountains and forests. Originally, it was lightning that ignited the withered trees, and many small animals were burned to death by the fire. After the fire, Fuxi picked up these small animals and tasted them very delicious. So Fuxi left the spark behind.
He passed on this flame to everyone and taught them how to cook food with fire to eat. People have eaten grilled food and become strong and robust, whether it’s fishing or hunting. Moreover, diseases caused by eating raw food are becoming less and less common.
